MAKEUP TRICKS TO MAKE TEETH LOOK WHITER
For those who have a great dental routine but still seem to have teeth that are sparkling white – and don’t want to use chemical whiteners, there are many makeup tricks that can help your teeth look whiter instantly.
Bin the gold!
If your preferred gloss has a dollop of gold or bronze tones in it, then there is some bad news for you. Bronze and gold tones glosses and any lipsticks that have a golden sheen or glitter will highlight any yellow in the teeth. Cooler tones are better for making your teeth look whiter.
Whitening
At-home chemical whitening kits can be effective, but there are many that have caused damage to gums and tooth enamel. However, toothpaste that has a whitening effect can be great for lifting stains and making your teeth a little brighter. While it’s not a makeup tip, it is one of the most effective things you can do. Unfortunately, there aren’t tricks for getting straighter teeth that will need orthodontist whites dental!
Contour
The contour colours that you put around your mouth will have an impact on the tone of your teeth. Warmer shades that lean orange or red will emphasise any yellow in your teeth – even if it is minimal. Understanding some colour theory and mixing your own contour tones will help to knock out any warmer tones that will make your teeth look yellow while still giving you the contour you need.
You can also use contour to emphasise the lips and make them look fuller.
Eyes Up!
If you want to avoid anyone looking at your mouth completely, you can become a master at creating beautiful eye looks. Learn to do winged liner, and still with some of the cool tones that help to knock out any of the yellows on your teeth. Blues, silvers, and purples are great for deflecting yellows.
For those who don’t want to go OTT with shadows, look for bold graphic liners and get experimental with shapes.
Bronzed
A golden glow can be incredible for healthy-looking skin, and it is a go-to in the summer months for looking a little bit tanned without the UV rays. Going for a softer, more veiled application with a taupe-toned bronzed can lift the tone of your teeth by an entire shade (visually), and it also works wonders if your skin is looking a little sallow too.
Plum or Red
Plum lipsticks and glosses, or red glosses and lipsticks with a blue tone, make your smile appear brighter instantly. There are a few highly recommended red lip colours with blue undertones to give you that bright white look:
- Fenty Icon Velvet
- Maybelline Ruby For Me
- Stila Liquid Lip Fiery
- Mac Relentlessly Red
- Karen Murrell True Love
Dry Lips
Dry or chapped lips will draw attention to your mouth, and that will highlight the yellowness of your teeth – no matter how minor. With a clean toothbrush, gently massage away all of the dry skin and slather on a healthy helping of lip salve like Elizabeth Arden 8-Hour Cream.
